On January 19, 2016, the signing ceremony of cooperation agreement of SPA, BASF and the Northeast German Chemical Vocational Training Center (BBZ) was held in the conference room of the Training Center on Southern Campus of SPA. The guests and leaders attending the signing ceremony included Dr. Lars Reichmann, global vice president of BASF Group, Lyu Qiang, HR manager of Greater China and Ines Krämer, general manager of Chemical Vocational Training Center in Northeastern Germany, Steffen Krämer and Benjamin Ottermers, training experts of BASF. Lin Guoxin, Party secretary of SPA, Gao Ju, vice principal of SPA, the heads of the relevant departments such as the Academic Affairs Office, the Student Affairs Office, and the Chemical Engineering Department, as well as some teachers and all the students of BASF Class attended the signing ceremony .

Optimizing Majors Befitting Industry

The success of the agreement signing is the result of years of cooperation between China and Germany. As early as six months ago, in September 2015, in order to better serve the development of the enterprise and meet the urgent talent needs of the company, SPA has jointly established the first chemical operation class (BASF Class) with the BASF Group. Dr. Xue Congjun, vice president of BASF Group, introduced that BASF is the world's largest chemical company with more than 350 branches and companies in 39 countries, with annual global sales of more than 70 billion euros and about 112,000 employees. It was named the most admirable chemical company in the world by the American business magazine Fortune. As the headquarters of the BASF Group in Greater China, SCIP has a very large demand for talents. Many new plants have been built in the park. For example, the new Ultramid polymerization unit  will be put into production in 2015. BASF, Huntsman and Sinopec Group will jointly build a production unit with an annual output of 240,000 tons of crude MDI. It is also scheduled to start production in 2017. With the rapid expansion of the company, new employees are in urgent need. Dr. Xue believed that the establishment of the BASF Class will be a good start. He hoped that the students of the BASF Class will study hard to acquire knowledge and skills, improve their overall quality and be well prepared to be a member of BASF.

Sino-German Jointly Establish Talent Training Program with International Standards

At the signing ceremony, the host and guest shared the extraordinary journey of cooperation between the two sides in the past five years and they both expressed gratitude to each other because the curriculum system adopted by BASF Class is a new set of professional and curriculum standards jointly developed by China and Germany over the past five years. Looking back, in 2010, SPA and the Shanghai Chemical Industry Association signed a multi-party cooperation letter of intent with the Berlin Lisa-Mettner School, the Northeastern Chemical Industry Training Association and the Northeast German Chemical Employers Federation. In 2012, in order to cultivate front-line chemical operators with international standards, SPA introduced the German original textbooks and teaching materials based on the German “Chemical Operators” vocational education federal law issued in 2009 and jointly developed eight professional core courses with world-class standards. The course covers vocational general education, chemical basics and analytical testing, basic process operations, measurement technology, installation technology, separation technology, control and regulation technology, and chemical plant operation, etc. Since 2013, the two sides have sent many teachers to participate in various exchanges and trainings on the specific implementation of the curriculum and teaching methods to ensure the high quality of the implementation of Sino-German standards. At the same time, in order to serve the needs of various types of training, SPA has integrated various high-quality resources, improved the energy level of existing equipment, and equipped with a lot  of new training devices and equipment.

There Is Still a Long Way to Go in School-Enterprise Cooperation

On behalf of SPA, Lin Guoxin expressed warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to the leaders and experts who attended the signing ceremony. He said that the three parties attaches great importance to the signing of this cooperation agreement. Dr. Lars Reichmann, Global Vice President of BASF, and Ms. Ines Krämer, head of the Northeast Chemical Training Center in Germany, came to SPA to witness this significant signing ceremony. The signing of this cooperation agreement also marks that their cooperation will be more standardized and effective under the framework of the contract. Lin Guoxin said that the school will spare no efforts to promote this cooperation and provide all necessary support. Dr. Lars Reichmann said that the signing of  cooperation agreement owes a lot to BBZ and SPA for their great support for the development of BASF's human resources. On the other hand, he hoped that the students will continue to work hard and graduate with honors. Ines Krämer pointed out that she is especially grateful to the students of this year's BASF Class because they have opened a new chapter of the tripartite cooperation. She sincerely hoped that this kind of cooperation can be strengthened and promoted to a new stage in the future. Gu Hongwei spoke highly of the successful signing of cooperation agreement of the three parties. He said that at present, China's economic development has entered an important period of innovation-driven development. In the era of Made in China 2025, vocational education will bear the urgent responsibility of cultivating a large number of high-quality technical talents. Therefore, high-standard and higher-level international education and training systems are badly needed to accelerate the internationalization of vocational education. He said that he was very pleased to witness the tripartite cooperation. He sincerely hoped that SPA, BASF and BBZ will continue to promote their cooperation and achieve more fruitful results.

The signing of the cooperation agreement between China and Germany started a new era of school-enterprise cooperation, marking the beginning of a new stage of deepening the school's international standards. We know that cooperation with world-class companies and first-class training centers will definitely benefit us a lot, but at the same time, it will be a huge challenge for us. However, we will continue to work harder and move forward. After all, this is not only the need for school development, but also the requirement of social development.
