From May 9th to 11th, 2016, the Industrial Analysis and Inspection Program of the National Vocational School Skills Competition was held in Tianjin Bohai Vocational and Technical College. 48 teams from secondary vocational schools participated in the competition. After three days' tense competition, Xu Wenfeng from 131 BASF Class and Shan Yaoheng from 131 Chemical Class 04 of SPA won the silver medal (the sixth place) and they won group second prize.
The theme of the National Vocational School Skills Competition held in Tianjin was “Carrying forward the spirit of craftsmanship to build a powerful country”. The competition consisted of 94 events, with more than 10,000 participants. The competition sets up group awards for the contestants. The first prize accounts for 10%, the second prize accounts for 20%, and the third prize accounts for 30%.
The National Vocational School Skills Competition is a national vocational school student skill competition launched by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and jointly organized by relevant departments, trade organizations and local authorities. It is a stage for Chinese vocational students to learn skills from each other and show their talent. It is also a window to overview the development level of China's vocational education.
102 teams participated in the Industrial Analysis and Inspection Program of 2016 National Vocational School Skills Competition, 54 of which are from higher vocational schools. Each team in this competition consists of two players. Both players are required to participate in the competition of professional theory (accounts for 30%), chemical analysis (accounts for 35%), and instrument analysis (accounts for 35%).
From March 2016, the team of SPA had a strenuous training for more than two months. The training was divided into two phases. The first phase was held in SPA and the second phase was in Shanghai Information Technology School. The school leaders attached great importance to the training of the competition. The Chemical Engineering Department of SPA took charge of the relevant issues of taking part in the competition. As the instructors, Hu Yaohua, Gan Hongzhen, and Cheng Cuixiang, overcame all the difficulties in training and guiding the contestants. The contestants took full advantage of teamwork in the competition and won great honor for SPA with their team solidarity, stable performance and excellent display.
The great achievements made by the team of SPA fully embody the students’ upward spirit, excellent professional quality and operational skills. It reflects SPA’s school-running goal: “Carrying forward the spirit of craftsmanship to build a strong technical school”.
