SPA Wins the Honorary Title of "Model School of Code of Conduct in Shanghai Vocational School System"

On the afternoon of April 12th, the 2016 Shanghai Secondary Vocational School Moral Education Seminar was held at the Shanghai Aviation Service School. Vice principal Gao Ju and Dai Huiqin, a teacher from Student Affairs Office attended the meeting.

The conference reviewed the innovation and development of the 2015 moral education work and assigned the new tasks of the 2016 moral education work. Six secondary vocational schools were awarded the title of “Model School of Code of Conduct in Shanghai Vocational System ”. Since 2013, SPA has taken the education of students’ normative behavior as an important part of moral education and has successfully built a scientific, systematic and standardized behavioral normative education system. On behalf of SPA, vice principal Gao Ju went up to the stage to accept the award.

According to the Notice of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission Shanghai Spiritual Civilization Construction Committee on the Implementation of the Evaluation of the Model Schools for the Behavioral Norms of Primary and Secondary Schools (including Secondary Vocational Schools) (Shanghai Education Commission [2012] No. 43), entrusted by the Moral Education Department of the Municipal Education Commission and the Vocational Education Department, the Shanghai Secondary Vocational Education Research Association organized the middle phase declaration of the Model School of Conduct Code in Shanghai Secondary Vocational School System from December 2015 to March 2016.

In November 2015, SPA successfully applied for the assessment of the “Model School” in the secondary vocational system. On the basis of self-evaluation and self-examination of the Shanghai Secondary Vocational School Behavioral Norms Model School Evaluation Index System (2012 Edition), the following documents were written: the self-evaluation report of Improving the Management Mechanism of Behavioral Norms to Improve Students’ Behavior, the Application Form of Assessing Model School of Behavioral Norms, 2013-2015 Summary of Major Accidents (Events) of SPA.  The measures taken by SPA in the past two years on the education of students' behavioral norms, the achievements and shortcomings in the work, and the plan for follow-up work were all recorded in detail in these documents. At the beginning of March, the Moral Education Department of Municipal Education Commission and the Vocational Education Department organized the schools applying for assessment to attend on-site defense meeting. Vice principal Gao Ju made open reply from the following three aspects:  achievements, features and shortcomings in the work. Finally, on March 28th, after experts’ evaluation, principal’s open reply and field assessments, the list of candidate schools were publicized on the Shanghai Vocational Education Online.

In recent years, SPA has adhered to the principle of “People-Oriented Education, Moral Education Comes First”. SPA has established a framework of “great moral education” and required all staff members to participate in the management and education of students, establishing the concept that everyone is a moral education worker in SPA. 

In the future, we should take this assessment as an opportunity to advance with the times, strengthen students' behavioral norms education in a more scientific and effective way, and train more talents with both ability and political integrity for the society.
