Australian Education Delegation Came to SPA Again to Discuss Cooperation

On October 22nd, Wang Jiahao, Australian Overseas Chinese Leader, Director of the Chamber of Commerce, and president of Australian China Tourism Culture and Trade Promotion Association, came to SPA with a delegation once again to discuss further cooperation in vocational education. The members of the delegation included Glenn Withers, professor of Economics at the Australian National University and CEO of the University Alliance, Steven Balzary, president of the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rhett Miller, minister of Education of the Australian Trade Bureau in China, Lisa Materano, senior expert in Australian International Education, Ken Madej, dean of Sydney ELS Global English School, Jennifer Zhao, director of Australia Shengtai Group, and Sherry Tan, marketing manager, etc. Dai Ping, deputy director of the United Front Work Department of the Jinshan District Committee and Party secretary of the District Federation of Overseas Chinese, Zheng Ying, deputy director of the District Education Bureau, Lu Huiping, vice chairman of the District Overseas Chinese Federation, and other leaders attended the meeting. Lin Guoxin, Party secretary SPA, Gao Ju, vice principal, Jin Siyun, principal of Shanghai Food Science and Technology School, Wang Ping, vice principal of Shanghai Food Science and Technology School, and the heads of relevant departments of SPA participated in this meeting. 

First of all, on behalf of Jinshan District ,Dai Ping expressed his heartfelt gratitude and warm welcome for the arrival of the Australian education delegation. Zheng Ying, on behalf of Jinshan District Education Bureau, said that on the way to the internationalization of vocational education, Jinshan District has always been at the forefront of China. We sincerely welcome Australian friends to explore further cooperation with us. We hope that through in-depth communication and exchange, we can find an integrating point between China and Australia so that we can learn from Australia's advanced models and experience in vocational education development. We believe that we can better meet the urgent needs of parents of students for high quality education and better serve regional economic and social development.

On behalf of SPA, Lin Guoxin pointed out that SPA was born for the needs of enterprise, the development of Jinshan and even the entire Hangzhou Bay. Based on the three core major categories: Chemical Technology, Electromechanical, and Economic & Trade, SPA has achieved good results after years of construction. SPA has accumulated a lot of valuable experience in international cooperation by jointly working out discipline standards with cooperative units, and has improved the existing major teaching modules with internationally accepted certificates. On behalf of Shanghai Food Science and Technology School, Mr. Jin Siyun pointed out that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the school will focus on the key tasks of “One school, two groups, three bridges and four bases”, making full use of the resources of all parties to further promote the development of the school. The two schools carefully analyzed the situation and challenges faced by them and they both expressed their hopes for promoting the cooperation with Australia. The representatives from Australia introduced their high-quality resources to the schools from different perspectives, including English training, co-construction of major, standard setting, TAFF courses, certificate introduction, etc. They especially focused on topics such as vehicle maintenance, food processing and testing, and oil and gas utilization. The guests and the host had a very constructive and in-depth talk. 

The two sides agreed that in the further communication, they will study the necessity and feasibility of cooperation projects according to the relevant policies of China-foreign cooperative education, and then decide on the cooperation projects that are truly suitable for the development of vocational school. The two sides both hope to make new contributions to the international development of Jinshan vocational education on basis of mutual benefit.

Before the meeting, the Australian education delegation also visited the campus of SPA, including Bayer Training Base, Evonik Simulation Training Center, Chemical Technology Open Training Center, etc. They spoke highly of the advanced concept of school- running, the education and teaching models which are suitable for secondary vocational students, and the multi-channel cooperation between schools and enterprises. It is hoped that the two sides will learn from each other and grow together in future cooperation.
