SPA Teachers Achieve Excellence in the 7th Shanghai Teaching Methodology Competition

The results of the 7th Shanghai Teaching Method Competition were finally released. Wu Zhenzhen won the first prize of this teaching competition. Yu Jie and Hu Cuina won the second prize. Ye Guoqing and Tian Hao won the third prize. Hu Dijun, Jiang Fangping, He Yan, Chen Huihui and Tang Haojie, won the excellent awards. After more than half a year's hard work, they finally got a good reward.

In the second half of 2015, SPA received a notice issued by the Teaching and Research Office of the Municipal Education Commission:“Shanghai Municipal Education Commission is about to hold the 7th Shanghai Secondary Vocational Schools Teaching Methodology Reform and Evaluation Competition". The theme of this year's teaching competition is“Let the teaching method be closer to the students". Correctly dealing with the relationship between teaching and learning is an perpetual topic that all educators care about and need to explore. The development of information technology has brought a new prospect for the development of education. The change of the times brings us unlimited possibilities for teaching, but it also brings many challenges. Upon receiving the notice, the teachers of SPA were thrilled and eager to have a try, for it's a golden opportunity for them to show their talent in the“Teaching Olympic Games”in Shanghai. At the same time, the teachers of SPA are thinking hard about a problem, that is, how to better embody the theme of this teaching competition in the new era.

The Nine-story Tower Rises from a Heap of Earth

Preparing for a teaching methodology competition is not a matter for the teachers alone, but depends a great deal on teamwork. The school set up a leading group,and each teaching department set up a project team to provide more ideas and help for the participants. The Teaching & Research Office of SPA organized a number of lectures on teaching design and presentation of teaching.The members of each project team repeatedly observed and optimized the classes, and then gave the participants advice for their teaching designs. Huang Hanjun, vice principal of SPA, participated in the whole process. They repeatedly talked about every detail, from the selection of teaching content, the arrangement of teaching process, to the teaching posture, the classroom arrangement, even the color of the name cards. No one can remember how many nights, all the teachers of the project team will discuss and argue for hours about a particular detail, take the order of a teaching steps as an example. No one can remember how many times in the classroom, the school leaders and the project team members have guided the participants. No one can remember how many times they have altered or fully changed their teaching plans. All the teachers concerned devoted themselves to this work. 

No Cross, No Crown

The results of the competition were finally released and contestants of SPA achieved excellent results. All their efforts have paid off. During the competition, although the participants experienced too many difficulties and setbacks,the teaching environment was not ideal,and even some of the participants didn't feel very well during the competition, everyone persisted all the way.

The contestants standing on the stage are glorious, while the team standing behind them is equally worthy of praise! The achievements of the contestants are inseparable from the hard work of the team. It is believed that in the future education and teaching work, they will win more honors for the school, and their spirit will also inspire other teachers to learn from them and win more glory for the school!
