On January 11, 2017, the seminar on “Chemical Technology” was held in the new training building on southern campus of SPA. Jens Bechtold, BASF global vice president, Lu Qiang, human resources manager, Ines Kramer, general manager of Northeast Germany Training Center (BBZ), Steffen Krämer and Mr. Benjamin Ottmers, experts of BASF, Gao Ju, principal of SPA and vice principal Huang Hanjun, etc, participated in the seminar.
Graduates of SPA Are Well Received by Enterprises
The school has cooperated with BASF for more than ten years. In addition to cooperation in order-oriented cultivation, teaching and research and teacher training, they try to expand cooperation projects and promote cooperation. In the summer of 2016, SPA and BASF successfully held BASF employees summer camp. In 2015, BASF selected 21 students from SPA to set up the first BASF Class. After a year’s of training, they entered BASF for internship. After half a year’s internship, Jens Bechtold, BASF's global vice president, spoke highly of the students from the first BASF Class. All of the 21 students have been accepted as regular employees by BASF.
Based on the high recognition of the students from SPA, Jens Bechtold hopes that the company can continue to cooperate with SPA ,ensuring that every year SPA can send more excellent students to BASF. For this reason, BASF hopes that another two BASF Classes can be set up in 2017. It is hoped that through two years of training, international teaching standards can be better carried out and SPA can cultivate more talents that meet the needs of enterprises.
Sino-German Jointly Formulating Standards to Promote Localization of Dual System”
The success of the first BASF Class was the result of the cooperation between SPA, BASF and BBZ and it adopted the international standard of chemical technology teaching standards jointly developed by the school and BBZ.
In 2010, SPA and the Shanghai Chemical Industry Association signed a multi-party cooperation letter of intent with the German Lisa-Mitner School, the Northeastern German Training Center and the Northeast German Chemical Employers Federation. In 2012, China and Germany jointly developed eight professional core courses with international standards. The course covers vocational general education, chemical basics and analytical testing, and basic operations of chemical process. Since 2013, China and Germany have exchanged personnel to train and ensure the high quality of standards implementation. SPA has sent several teaching teams to Germany for academic exchange and training on the specific implementation of the curriculum and teaching methods. At the same time, SPA strives to integrate various high-quality resources, improve the energy level of existing equipment, and add a number of new training devices and equipment.
After the completion of the course development, it has been implemented in the first and second BASF Class, 15th and 16th grade Chemical Technology International Classes. Ines Kramer is very concerned about the implementation of the new standard. At the time of the final exams, Mrs. Ines Kramer and her team came to SPA travelling thousands of miles to learn about the students and to discuss further cooperation.
Optimizing Advantages of SPA to Speed up the Pace of Internationalization of School-Running
At the seminar, Gao Ju said that it is the school’s responsibility and obligation to improve the ability to serve economic and social development. He hoped that SPA and BASF will continue to cooperate and BASF can put forward some good suggestions on employee training and student cultivation, which helps the school better serve enterprises.
In order to further accelerate the pace of international schooling and improve the ability to serve the society, in 2016, SPA signed an agreement with the Shanghai Office of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry to introduce the AHK certificate in the majors of electromechanical, chemical technology and numerical control. Gao Ju proposed that SPA can seek more in-depth cooperation with BBZ to train outstanding technical talents for more enterprises. Mrs. Ines Kramer said that BBZ is very happy to cooperate with SPA and welcomes SPA to send teachers to Germany for training.
Huang Hanjun had further discussions with BBZ leaders and experts on specific cooperation project such as curriculum development, design for learning situation and teaching implementation, etc.
