In order to deepen the national defense education reform of schools and promote the combination of national defense education and school academic education, the Ministry of Education appraised 1430 schools all over China as National Education Specialist Schools based on the principles of independent declaration and recommendation by municipal administrative departments. SPA was one of the specialist schools.
These years, SPA has attached great importance to national defense education of all the students of SPA, which has been one of the projects of annual moral work of SPA. SPA sticks to ensuring the teaching time of national defense education, making use of classroom teaching to combine national defense education with learning of major courses, paying attention to cultivating students' sense of national defense, integrating national defense practice into talent cultivation from the military training of the students as soon as they enroll in SPA, emphasizing cultivating students' quality and morality, making use of special history resources to carry out efficient theme activities, and using bulletin board, internet and WeChat to implement various forms of national defense education activities. The activities have won support from all the teachers and students of SPA.
SPA makes full use of Army Day, September 3rd Victory Day of the War of Resistance, Qing Ming Festival, etc. to carry out national defense education activities. SPA organizes students to carry out activities featuring remembrance of the martyrs and tomb-sweeping in Jinshan Martyrs' Cemetery, Jinshanwei Japanese Landing Site, Si Hang Warehouse Patriotism Education Base to cultivate students' sense of national defense, construction of national defense, contribution to national defense, and to improve students' comprehensive national defense qualities, sense of country, sense of national defense and awareness of unexpected development. Through various activities, a strong atmosphere of national defense has been formed on campus.
National defense education is to defend sovereignty, to protect territorial integrity and security, and to defend against foreign aggression, subversion and threat. It is also a kind of social activity targeted to all people about ideas, knowledge and skills of national defense education, so the national defense education of schools is the base of improving the entire people's sense of national defense, which is also one important part of moral education of schools.
SPA also makes full use of its human environment, excellent historical tradition and Red Resources to creatively implement national defense education and to explore new features of management mechanism, course development, teaching methods, working modes, various activities, faculty teams and construction of various practice bases, etc.
