In order to strengthen school-enterprise cooperation and understand the needs of enterprise, on the afternoon of April 11, 2018, Gao Ju, principal of SPA, Tang Lianxi, director of Enrolment and Employment Office, Shao Zhe, director of Chemical Engineering Department, and Jiang Fangping, deputy director of General Administration Office, went to the Shanghai Chemical Industry Park to pay a visit to the top leaders of Covestro Polymers (China) Co., Ltd. Dr. Chen Yun, senior vice president of Covestro Polymers (China) Co., Ltd. & head of Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai, Wang Keyun, senior manager of Human Resources of Covestro, and other top leaders, received the visitors warmly.
During the talk, Gao Ju recalled the cooperation history of SPA and Covestro Polymers (China) Co., Ltd. and expressed his sincere thanks for Covestro's support and care for the development of SPA. SPA has cooperated with Covestro (the original Bayer Company) since 2002. Both sides have developed a series of cooperative projects, established school-enterprise cooperation win-win platform, held student vocational skills competition named Covestro Cup, which has become an important activity of SPA every year. Meanwhile, both sides accelerate the school-enterprise cooperation by jointly designing teaching plans, establishing Covestro Class, promoting AHK Chemical Operators Qualification Certificate, etc.
Dr. Chen Yun introduced the development strategy of Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai. As one of the most important production site of Covestro in Asia Pacific Region, Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai has been committed to sustainable operation and development and has attached great importance to environmental protection in the products and procedures of production. The cooperation between Covestro and SPA can efficiently satisfy the needs of front-line operators for the enterprise. Some operators graduating from SPA have performed so excellently that they have been promoted to managing positions from front-line operators.
At the same time, both sides discussed further about the establishment and implementation of Covestro Class, the promotion of AHK and international construction of majors, etc. Sally Huang, specialist of Recruitment, communicated with SPA about the establishment and implementation of Covestro Class and gave feedbacks about the internships of SPA students. Both sides also exchanged ideas about the class size, talent cultivation, enterprise assessment and employment ratio, etc. Meanwhile, they talked about how to carry out and accelerate the training of pre-service and after-service staff with the support of AHK Sino-German Chemical Vocational Training Base. Besides the training of common technicians, there will be higher-level training of group leaders, so that not only their technical "Hard Power" but also their leading and communicative "Soft Power" will be lifted.
Dr. Chen Yun has always been concerned with the international construction of electromechanical majors of SPA. He put forward the training requirements of chemical equipment inspection and maintenance personnel. He expressed that Covestro is willing to provide talent support and send senior German engineers to school to help SPA plan and layout the Intelligent Manufacturing Building.
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has made it clear in the Nineteenth Report that we should optimize vocational education and training system, deepen industry-education integration and strengthen school-enterprise cooperation. Accelerating the transformation of vocational education from educational teaching type to industry-education integration type is not only the great historical mission given to vocational education in this new era but also the historical responsibility of supporting manufacturing power.
