On the afternoon of October 29, 2018, theme activity of the 16th anniversary of strategic cooperation between SPA and Covestro was grandly held in the conference center of SPA. Gu Hongwei, director of Jinshan Education Bureau, Sun Jianguo, vice general manager of Shanghai Chemical Industry Park Development Co., Ltd., Wilhelm Dittich, director of AHK Recruitment, Training and Vocational Education Department, Dr. Chen Yun, head of Covestro Integrated Site, Shanghai, Gao Ju, principal of SPA, Lin Guoxin, Party secretary of SPA, employees of Covestro, teachers and students of SPA, attended the activity.
At 1 p.m., with the theme of "Forever Young", the opening ceremony was officially held. Gao Ju delivered a welcome speech. He recalled the cooperation course. Since SPA conducted cooperation with Covestro in 2002, both sides have signed cooperation agreement, achieved school-enterprise integration, and substantially and efficiently served the construction of Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai by means of a series of cooperation methods including jointly establishing Covestro Class, jointly cultivating faculty, jointly holding skills competitions, etc. In the past 16 years of cooperation, both sides have accumulatively established 10 Covestro Classes, held 9 Covestro Skills Competitions, and cultivated 45 percent of all the frontline operators of Covestro. The successful cooperation between SPA and Covestro has set up a good demonstration role in the vocational education in Shanghai and all over the country. Gao Ju said that SPA will continue to deepen the cooperation with Covestro, satisfy the needs of high-quality labor and technical personnel of enterprise, fulfill the expectations of high-quality vocational education of the mass, and create the "Jin Brand" of vocational education.
Chen Yun said that school-enterprise cooperation has helped to train a number of excellent talents for Covestro. Many graduates have become the backbone force of operations for Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai, some of whom have grown into technical force and managing personnel, which is the pride of both Covestro and SPA. At present, Covestro is cooperating with SPA and AHK to create higher-level theoretical and practical courses.
Wilhelm Dittich and Dr. Chen Yun unveiled the Covestro AHK Theoretical Teaching Site. In recent years, SPA has actively cooperated with AHK (Shanghai), introduced AHK International Vocational Qualification Certificate, established AHK Sino-German Chemical Vocational Training Base, achieved the localization of German dual vocational education model, and broadened the scope of international cooperation of SPA. SPA has won great support from Covestro in the course of running the school internationally. For the time being, there are 2 Covestro Classes, namely, 161 Covestro Class and 171 Covestro Class. The students of the two Covestro Classes are being trained according to AHK Vocational Qualification Standard of Chemical Operators.
Gu Hongwei thought highly of the school-enterprise cooperation between SPA and Covestro. School-enterprise cooperation plays an excellent role in boosting the development of Jinshan vocational education. He hoped that the cooperation will be deeper, longer and more fruitful.
The solid cooperation between Covestro and SPA is a good example of school-enterprise cooperation, said Sun Jianguo in his remarks. As one of the enterprises in SCIP, Covestro (the original Bayer) began to cooperate with SPA in 2002. Now, over 30 enterprises in SCIP have signed cooperation agreements with SPA. Over 3,000 graduates have been cultivated accumulatively for the enterprises in SCIP. Sun Jianguo expressed that the investment and support for vocational education is a long-term development strategy for SCIP and enterprises. SCIP is accelerating to build a first-rate petrochemical industry site with international competitiveness. Enterprises have great demands for talents, so he hoped that the cooperation scope can be broadened to train more excellent personnel for the new round construction and high-end development of SCIP.
Through VCR, alumni expressed their gratitude to SPA and teachers. Student representatives presented bunches of flowers to the class teachers of the first Covestro Class and the new Covestro Class.
After the opening ceremony, career forum titled "Covestro Pursuing a Brighter Future" was held. Four excellent employees from different sections of Covestro shared their career experience and perception with the students from the two Covestro Classes. They also introduced the corporate culture of Covestro and encouraged students to try their best to grow into outstanding employees of Covestro.
90 employees of Covestro came back to SPA at the 16th anniversary of school-enterprise cooperation. They had joyous gathering with teachers, deepened their friendship and expected further school-enterprise development. After that, they took part in the fun shooting game with Covestro students.
