On November 17, 2018, in order to fully implement the building of labor force with knowledge, skills and innovation, carry forward the spirit of labor model and craftsman and foster healthy social conduct of glorious labor and pursuit of excellence, which are put forward in the 19th Congress Report, "Perfect Skills, Poetic Life" 2018 China Skills Competition —— Shanghai Jinshan Vocational Skills Competition Exhibition Activity was grandly held in Shanghai Petrochemical Academy according to the municipal document titled "About Carrying out 2018 Shanghai Municipal Vocational Skills Competition Activity Notice". The activity was jointly held by Jinshan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Jinshan Finance Bureau, Jinshan Education Bureau, Jinshan General Trade Union and Jinshan District Committee of the Communist Youth League.
In this activity, Jinshan district adheres to the talent training requirements of "Talent-driven City & Innovation-driven Development Strategy", draws on the experience of the philosophy of World Skills Competition and China Skills Competition, and makes arrangements for the exhibition activity with the aim to collectively demonstrate skills. There were mainly two industries on display, namely, Trade & Tourism and Social & Personal Service, among which five exhibition items were selected due to their strong competiveness, wonderful demonstration effect and special regional characteristics —— Chinese chef, Chinese style pastry chef, western style pastry chef, flower arranging, property maintenance. At the awarding, winners were awarded prizes by leaders from Jinshan Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and they were also expected to continue to carry forward the spirit of craftsman. During the exhibition, the skilled masters presented excellent performance on site. They interpreted the meaning of craftsmanship by means of their exquisite skills. Audience could not only enjoy their performance but taste the delicious food as well at the exhibition area of Chinese and western cooking. In the interaction area, chemical engineering, numerical control, peasants' painting, Chinese paper-cuts, Chinese buttons and nursing care for the aged were brilliantly exhibited. Exciting audience enjoyed DIY on site and kept their own works with delight.
As one of the organizers and co-organizers of the exhibition activity, respectively, SPA and Vocational Skills Training Center of SPA attached great significance to the activity. Principal Gao Ju conducted overall coordination and arrangements for the activity in person. The service included a wide spectrum, including display area, display screen, photography & video recording, VIP service, tea & meals, cars, green plants, security, health services, etc. Excellent teachers and students were also selected from various departments to provide guide service for visitors. Etiquette personnel patiently and warmly served the guests at the gate, signature desk, main meeting-place, elevators, etc. Student volunteers made full and careful preparations including playing the music, guiding the guests, delivering drinking water, etc. During the activity, the excellent performance of SPA demonstrates its high service quality and positive spiritual outlook of SPA teachers and students.
It is reported that this competition is a solid acceleration of Jinshan for 2021 the 46th World Skills Competition that Shanghai has successfully bid for. Through strict selection, a batch of outstanding skilled talents from enterprises and industries have stood out. They have shown their excellent skills in the activity, pushing this year's vocational skills competition to a new climax.
