On March, 19, 2019, in order to meet the urgent needs of high-quality talent in enterprises, a 3-member group from BASF led by Jens Christian Bechtold, vice president of Human Resources of Greater China of BASF and Li Wen, senior manager of Human Resources of Greater China of BASF, and a 6-member group from Maoming Polytechnic led by Party Secretary Gao Peng, President Zhang Qing and Vice President Liang Deping, visited Shanghai Petrochemical Academy. Principal Gao Ju and Vice Principal Huang Hanjun received the guests warmly.
With the company of SPA leaders, the guests visited SPA campus, History Museum of SPA, Chemical Industry and Human Science Exhibition Gallery, Cross-enterprise Training Center and Chemical Engineering Training Building. All the guests applauded the neat and beautiful campus, the orderly and normative training management, etc.
At the meeting room on the first floor of the Chemical Engineering Training Building, three parties conducted in-depth exchanges. A promotion video of Maoming Polytechnic was played. Maoming Polytechnic is the first full-time public higher vocational and technical college in Maoming. Zhang Qing noted that the visit to SPA aims to learn from SPA's rich and successful experience in cooperation with BASF. He sincerely hoped that SPA will provide precious suggestions on order-oriented cultivation, co-building of training centers, etc. Gao Ju introduced SPA's fundamental situation from the aspects of overall introduction, school-running features and future development. He especially emphasized AHK Chemical Vocational Qualification Training of Chemical Technology and AHK Industry Master Certification Localization Training and Testing Projects. Jens Christian Bechtold expressed that some experts of BASF vocational training will come to SPA to have further negotiations on the details of AHK Industry Master Certification. He thought the school-enterprise cooperation between BASF and SPA is fruitful, which has fostered many excellent talents for BASF Caojing Site. During this visit, he was deeply impressed by the advancements SPA has made in the acceleration of AHK Project, training room management, and so on. In order to provide better service for Zhanjiang Verbund Petrochemical Project, BASF hopes to intensify the cooperation with Maoming Polytechnic. AHK chemical vocational training standards will be adopted to cultivate first-line technical personnel needed by the enterprise and to achieve win-win school-enterprise cooperation results. Zhang Qing said that they are greatly enlightened by SPA's school-running features, which help to nurture new thoughts and ideas for further school-enterprise cooperation. Maoming Polytechnic will strengthen collaboration with SPA to ensure close coordination.
BASF Co., Ltd. is a German chemical enterprise, which is also one of the largest chemical enterprises in the world. BASF Group owns over 160 wholly-owned subsidiaries and joint ventures in 41 countries covering Europe, Asia, South America and North America. BASF Group will invest in constructing a Verbund petrochemical project in Zhanjiang Economic Development Zone, Guangdong, China. The whole project will be completed by around 2030 with a total estimated investment of up to 10 billion U.S. dollars. The first batch of equipment will be installed by 2026 and 3000 employees will be needed. The cooperation between BASF and Maoming Polytechnic will emulate SPA's international experience in cultivating chemical talent. The cooperation is expected to foster more excellent personnel for Zhanjiang Verbund Petrochemical Project to boost the development of the enterprise and to harvest win-win school-enterprise cooperation results. In the meantime, as AHK Sino-German Chemical Vocational Training Base, SPA will continue to exert a leading demonstrative role and bolster the new contributions to promoting the international construction of chemical industry.
