From June 10 to June 14, the Chemical Production Technology of 2019 National Vocational Students Skills Competition (Secondary Vocational Group) was held in Hunan Chemical Vocational Technology College successfully. This year's competition is divided into higher vocational group and secondary vocational group. Secondary vocational group comprises 46 teams consisting of 138 contestants coming from 27 provinces, municipalities and cities, setting a new record in the history of the competition. ZhengYanhao, PengShilun and QianZhehao from Shanghai Petrochemical Academy took part in the competition on behalf of Shanghai. After a fierce competition, the three contestants kept calm and performed well with their excellent professional operation skills, tacit teamwork and good psychological quality. Finally, they won the group second prize and all of them are granted the intermediate certificate of Chemical General Control Worker.
The Chemical Production Technology of National Vocational Students Skills Competition, which is now organized and held by National Ministry of Education, is transformed from the National Vocational Chemical General Control Workers Competition organized and held by National Chemical Education Association. This year's competition comprises theory, chemical simulation operation and rectification operation. Compared with last competition, there are new contents, which are aimed at examining contestants' professional theoretical knowledge, operation skills, problem solving abilities, team cooperation and professionalism, so the contestants face more difficulties.
Before last Spring Festival, Kang Yong and Ling Chaohui, both of whom are teachers from the Chemical Engineering Department of SPA, began to select contestants. At the beginning of April, 2019, ZhengYanhao, PengShilun and QianZhehao were finally selected among six students. With collaborative efforts of both coaches and contestants, they won the group second prize in the Chemical Production Technology.
The leaders of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy attached great significance to the competition. Principal GaoJu visited the contestants several times before the competition. Vice Principal Huang Hanjun gave the contestants encouragement and morale via accompanying them to the venue. Before the competition, the leaders of relevant departments also paid close attention to the training. Exchanges and communication with schools in Jiangsu and Pinghu were arranged to learn from each other's strengths and make up for weakness, to improve operation skills and to strengthen competitive capability.
The holding of Chemical Production Technology of 2019 National Vocational Students Skills Competition is a pragmatic implementation of Xi Jinping's thought of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress. It is also a substantial demonstration of "constructing knowledgeable, skilled, innovative laborers, carrying forward the spirit of model labor and craftsman, creating the national tradition of respecting labor and pursuing excellence". By means of the competition, vocational education reform will be promoted continually, the function of service of vocational education will be enhanced and teachers' and students' mental outlook and vocational skills will be showed.
