SPA Grandly Holds the Opening Ceremony of the 6th BASF Class

On Sept. 27th, 2019, the opening ceremony of th 6th BASF Class was held in the multi-functional hall of SPA. Jens Christian Bechtold, Vice President, Human Resources, Greater China, Frank Chen, Vice Director, Operations, BASF Chemicals Co. Ltd, Shanghai, Chris Lu, Manager, BASF Human Resources, Greater China, Ivy Yang, Assistant Manager, BASF Human Resources, Greater China, Gao Ju, Principal of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy, Yan Xiaoli, Director of Chemical Engineering Department of SPA, Jiang Fangping, Head of General Administration Office of SPA, and other relevant teachers attended the ceremony.

First, Gao Ju delivered a welcome speech on behalf of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy. He extended heartfelt thanks to BASF for their caring for and support to the development of SPA. Gao Ju recalled the history and achievements of school-enterprise cooperation with BASF. So far, SPA has set up 6 BASF Classes since SPA and BASF started cooperation in 2003. Through cooperation, SPA has provided a number of qualified technicians for BASF. Gao Ju earnestly expected the students of the 6th BASF Class to study hard to grasp professional knowledge and operation skills, to obtain graduation diploma and AHK Certificate as well.


Tang Qinyue, an excellent BASF Class graduate, delivered a speech to share her experience and understanding of study and work. She enjoyed the working atmosphere provided by BASF company, which offers every employee fair and just working platform and career promotion. She wanted the students of the new BASF Class to cherish the opportunity and to lay a fine foundation for future work in BASF company.

Shen Weicheng, one student from the 6th BASF Class, made a speech on behalf of the whole class. He said that all the classmates felt grateful to SAP and BASF for offering them such a valuable learning platform. They promise to be hardworking to grasp knowledge and skills and strive to be an employee welcomed by the enterprise.

Bei Xiaojun, class teacher of the 6th BASF Class, said in her speech that the students stood out through a series of written tests and interviews. Now they are members of the new BASF Class. This is a brand new start in their life. But in order to realize their goals, they need to learn more theoretical knowledge, grasp operation skills, improve their morality, behavior, physical fitness and all-round abilities.

Frank Chen, Vice Director, Operations, BASF Chemicals Co. Ltd, Shanghai, briefly introduced BASF to the students present. The development of the company gradually provides students with more chances of personal development. He also put forward some suggestions to the students. First, they should combine theory with practice. Second, they should have healthy lifestyle. Third, they should have a lifelong learning habit.

At last, Jens Christian Bechtold, Vice President, Human Resources, Greater China, extended thanks to SPA for its efforts in accelerating school-enterprise cooperation. He advised students to be curious, have interest in chemical industry, be diligent and keep open to others.


After the opening ceremony, Gao Ju conducted discussion with the leaders of BASF in terms of school-enterprise cooperation projects, such as BASF Chemical Operators Summer Camp, VR technology, Meister Certification.

BASF also expects SPA to give support to the professional construction of vocational schools in Zhanjiang, which will help BASF to have talent reserve.

With the development of the times, SPA will continually have exchanges with BASF. It is expected that we will have broader and brighter prospects of cooperation.
