On Oct. 22, in a bid to advance school-enterprise cooperation and jointly cultivate high-quality technicians and skilled talents, 191 BASF Class Opening Ceremony was successfully held in the multifunctional hall of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy. Liang Yaping, Vice President of Human Resources of BASF Greater China, Chen Wansuo, Director of Operations of BASF Chemicals Co., Ltd., Gao Ju, Principal of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy and Du Haiyan, Deputy Party Secretary of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy attended the opening ceremony. Leaders from Human Resources of BASF Greater China, Asia-Pacific Engineering and Technology Section of BASF Greater China, the General Administration Office of SPA and the Chemical Engineering Department of SPA and all the students from 191 BASF Class joined the activity.
At the opening ceremony, all the leaders and guests recalled the school-enterprise cooperation and pointed out the development path in the future. Two excellent graduates from the previous BASF Classes shared the successful experience and harvesting happiness with the students present. They hoped that the new BASF Class students will grow up healthily and smoothly.
Gao Ju noted in his remarks that since the first BASF Class was set up in 2002, 7 BASF Classes including 146 students have been established to receive joint school-enterprise cultivation. In 2016, both sides joined hands to implement BASF Employees’ Summer Camp activity. In the past five years, 4 BASF Summer Training Camp activities were organized. 73 excellent BASF employees successfully completed post-vocational talent training. At the beginning of 2017, both sides began to cooperate with BBZ and AHK to introduce AHK Chemical International Occupational Qualification Certificate, develop localized dual course and curriculum system and continuously improve the quality of talents jointly cultivated. In 2019, both sides started to assist Zhanjiang Technician College and Maoming Polytechnic College in adopting SPA’s advanced and mature talent cultivation standards to guarantee the talent needs of BASF Zhanjiang Integrated Site. Gao Ju sincerely thanked BASF for its long-time support and full trust. He also expected that both sides will strengthen cooperation and write a new chapter of win-win cooperation.
Liang Yaping said that BASF has learned and benefited a lot from the cooperation with SPA. As the leading chemical giant with more than a hundred years, BASF is always convinced that without excellent employees, there will be no sustainable development for the enterprise. She expected that all the BASF students to cherish the opportunity, become the master of their lives, learn to communicate, learn from SPA teachers and BASF employees, absorb others’ wisdom and win their own future.
Chen Wansuo shared the expectations for his own child with all the students present. He expected all the new BASF class students to be kindhearted, honest, positive, grateful and sympathetic. They should care about the society and times, spend less time in playing games, learn to observe more, read more and think more about social hotspots, make themselves perfect and adapt to the society. The students are also expected to learn to face the difficulties which certainly appear in their lives, learn to be tolerant and temperate, co-exist with adversity in life, have passion for life and finally become the real strong man of life.
The student representative of the new BASF Class made a pledge that they will master professional knowledge, become proficient in practical skills, pay attention to fitness and health, read more, be grateful, treat everything meticulously and live up to the great expectations of school and enterprise. The head teacher of the new BASF Class promised that she will try to help students to learn to cooperate and communicate and achieve their life goal with their solid knowledge and perfect personality.
During the exchanges and communication, the students from the new BASF Class asked questions actively, from corporate culture to course system, from employees’ training to students’ management.
After the ceremony, both sides had a school-enterprise cooperation meeting focusing on school-enterprise cooperation model, successful experience and pending difficulties at the meeting room on the first floor of the Chemical Engineering Practical Training Building. Principal Gao Ju shared the latest development and results achieved recently. He put forward the suggestion that both sides should further broaden cooperation scope and content. BASF introduced the company’s development in recent years. They highly praised the remarkable achievements that SPA has made in school-enterprise cooperation, education-training combination and internationalization. Both sides reached a series of consensus to deepen and broaden the cooperation.
At last, with the company of the director of the General Administration Office of SPA, some guests visited SPA’s Chemical Engineering Training Building to learn more about SPA’s training facilities and equipment and the examination site of Shanghai Safety Skills Production Qualification (Hazardous Chemicals) to lay a foundation for the following cooperation.
