In a bid to implement Yangtze River Delta integration national development strategy, make deep integration into Yangtze River Delta integration development, advance Shanghai-Suzhou urban integration and better serve the implementation of Shanghai’s three new major tasks and “five centers” construction, “Yangtze River Delta Integration Suzhou to Shanghai Matchmaking Symposium——Suzhou City Promotion Conference” was held in the Shanghai International Convention Center on Nov. 20, 2020. Xu Kunlin, Member of Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the CPC and the Secretary of Suzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, Li Yaping, Deputy Secretary of Suzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC and Mayor of Suzhou, Peng Chenlei, Vice Mayor of Shanghai, other leaders of Suzhou and Shanghai Municipal Government, leaders of Yangtze River Delta Cooperation Office and guests from science and technology, education, culture, health, finance sectors attended the conference. Gao Ju, Principal of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy, is invited to attend the symposium and sign project agreement.
Xu Kunlin noted in his remarks that he felt heartfelt gratitude to Shanghai for the lasting support and help in the development of Suzhou. He said Suzhou will further implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by President Xi Jinping by means of closely following the strategies of Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Jiangsu Provincial Government. With high political self-discipline and action self-discipline, Jiangsu will firmly implement Yangtze River Delta Integration Development Strategy, dock Shanghai, serve Shanghai and integrate with Shanghai more actively, make coordinated advance in Shanghai-Suzhou integration and social and economic development and better serve national development.
Peng Chenlei proposed that Shanghai and Suzhou should further join hands together, break administrative barriers by adopting thoughts and measures of integration, strengthen policy coordination, plan more strategic and leading projects centered on major fundamental infrastructure, prominent functional platform and key industry development. Facing future, Shanghai will grasp new development stage, implement new development philosophy, construct new development pattern in a scientific way. Shanghai, together with Suzhou and other cities, will collectively make the core of integration development stronger and better serve the high-quality development of Yangtze River Delta and national economy at large.
At the matchmaking symposium, representatives from Shanghai and Suzhou signed 90 special cooperation and project cooperation agreements covering industrial cooperation, basic cooperation, public service, culture, tourism and finance cooperation and government cooperation, etc. Xu Lijuan, Principal of Changshu Riverside Vocational School and Gao Ju, Principal of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy signed the agreement titled “Vocational School Collaborative Development Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement in the Context of Yangtze River Delta Integration”. According to the agreement, as Shanghai Safety Skills Comprehensive Practical Training Demonstration Base, Shanghai Petrochemical Academy will give support and help to Changshu Riverside Vocational School in constructing Changshu Green Chemical Industry School and Changshu Hazardous Chemicals Industry Safety Skills Training and Demonstration Base, conducting the building of special operation training and examination site, order-oriented secondary and higher vocational education integration school-running, enterprise new apprenticeship, chemical specialty internationalization construction catering to AHK occupational qualification standards, etc.
The State Council issued “Yangtze River Delta Integration Development Plan Guidelines” in Dec, 2019, which points out that Yangtze River Delta integration calls for jointly developing vocational education, building vocational education integration and collaborative development platform, focus on “integration” and “high-quality”, boost development capacity, further create new cooperation and competition advantages. The successful holding of Shanghai-Suzhou Matchmaking Symposium opens a new page for the development of Shanghai-Suzhou integration via better sharing premium education resources and efficient successful strategies and experience.
