From August 27th to 30th, the four-day 2022 National Vocational College Skills Competition (secondary vocational school group) was held in Jiangxi Applied Technology Vocational College. As one of the Shanghai teams, our school competed fiercely with 40 teams from 24 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) in four items: professional knowledge, simulation operation, HSE simulation and rectification practice. The contestants performed calmly, finally lived up to expectations and won the group third prize.
At the beginning of April this year, upon receiving the notice of the competition, Yan Xiaoli, the head of the Chemical Engineering Department, immediately made preparations for the competition, including forming a team of tutors led by Ling Chaohui and Kang Yong and a team of competitors composed of Shen Yingying, Xu Cheng and Gao Cheng through online comprehensive selection. Because of the epidemic situation in Shanghai, online theoretical and simulation training was first carried out, and later, with the support and cooperation of the Academic Affairs Department and General Affairs Departments of the school, full closed-loop offline practical training was carried out in line with the epidemic prevention requirements of Shanghai.
The preparation process of the skills competition is very difficult. The original training duration of more than 6 months has been shortened to 4 months, and even half of it is carried out online. However, teachers and students rose to the challenge. They overcame all kinds of difficulties, such as the epidemic situation, the inconvenience of online communication, the extreme heatwave, etc., and raced against time for training in order to master the theory, simulation and rectification operation in a very short time.
The group third prize is won by the hard work of all participants. Just a few months of preparation for the competition left an unforgettable experience for the participating students. Xu Cheng said that this competition provided him experience, enabled him to witness more examples in the professional field and have more expectations for his future study, gave him encouragement, offered him an opportunity to meet peers majoring in chemical engineering from all over the country, broadened his horizons and he really benefited a lot. Gao Cheng said that through this competition he had gained valuable things in his daily study, self-training, self-improvement, and accumulated much experience, which would be quite beneficial to his future study and work. Shen Yingying experienced some mistakes in the rectification operation of the first competition but she built up her self-confidence and indomitable fighting spirit.
Vocational skills competition brings us not only an award and an honor, but also a healthy competition in the field of vocational education and common progress. It makes our dream come true and brightens our life.
