On November 25th, the First Trade Union Congress of Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College was held in the Conference Center. Gao Ju, Party Secretary of Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College, Chen Xiaobin, Deputy Party Secretary and President, attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Peng Danyan, Vice Chairman of the School Trade Union.
Gao Ju fully affirmed the work of the School Trade Union in the past three years. He pointed out that the successful convening of the conference reflected the concern and love of the delegates for the school cause, the understanding and support of the delegates for the school work, and the enhancement of the delegates' awareness and level of participating in politics and democratic management of the school. He put forward three requirements for the newly-created first trade union committee of Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College. First, improve the active learning ability and make efforts to enhance morality. It is necessary to comprehensively study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, quickly form a zealous learning atmosphere, pool the strength of all the faculty and staff of the school to implement the major decisions and arrangements made by the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and educate and guide all the faculty and staff to strive to be excellent teachers with ideals and beliefs, morality, knowledge and benevolence. Second, improve democratic decision-making capability and work hard to gather cohesion. According to the law, the right to know, participate, express and supervise the major decisions and hot and difficult issues of school reform and development should be guaranteed. It is necessary to take the teacher representatives’ congress as a channel to pool wisdom, communicate and negotiate, and further promote the construction of democratic politics in the school. Third, improve unity and cohesion and work hard on it. It is necessary to seriously organize trade union cadres to carry out training and study, so as to truly apply what they have learned and integrate knowledge with practice. The training of trade union cadres should be combined with the theme practice activities of trade unions, and innovative ways and methods should be made to enhance the creativity, cohesion and combat effectiveness of the faculty and staff of the whole school, so as to contribute wisdom to the high-quality development of school undertakings. Finally, he stressed that in the critical period of the school's development, the new trade union committee should take the spirit of reform to overcome all difficulties, practice the people-centered development philosophy, strengthen its mission and enterprising spirit, and become a solid pillar to promote the school's "third venture".
At the meeting, Ze Yubiao, chairman of the School Trade Union, made a speech entitled "work hard, gather wisdom, forge ahead bravely, and serve the reform and development —— the work report of the 7th trade union committee of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy" on behalf of the 7th Trade Union Committee of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy. The report carefully reviewed and summarized the main work of the 7th Trade Union Committee of Shanghai Petrochemical Academy, and put forward the goals and main tasks of the School Trade Union in the next three years. Ze Yubiao said that in the next three years, the School Trade Union will set off a series of zealous learning activities of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which will stimulate the strong sense of political responsibility of the faculty and staff, and ensure that the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will take root and blossom in the school. The School Trade Union should earnestly perform its functions, give full play to the role of a bridge, focus on "new higher vocational education, modern chemical industry, integration of production and education, international vision", and give full play to the enthusiasm, initiative and creativity of the majority of teaching and administrative staff in the process of building a new high-level and distinctive higher vocational college, so as to contribute to the third venture of the school.
The delegates carefully exercised their voting rights, reviewed and approved the work report, and elected the chairman, vice-chairman and seven members of the first trade union committee of Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College.
