On February 28th, the 13th and 14th “Covestro Cup” Vocational Skills Competition Award Ceremony of Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College was held. Li Songhao, deputy director of Jinshan District Education Bureau, Ji Wenbin, deputy general manager of Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai, Gao Ju, secretary of the Party Committee of the school, and Chen Xiaobin, president, attended the ceremony. Li Songhao mentioned that at present, the whole country is fully implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and implementing the requirements put forward by the state of building knowledge-based, skilled and innovative workers, promoting the spirit of model workers and craftsmen, and creating a social fashion of respecting labor and an atmosphere of pursuing professional excellence. As the first full-time public higher vocational college in Jinshan District, Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College has always insisted on closely combining its own construction with regional economic and social development. The holding of vocational skills competition shows the school's persistence and responsibility for vocational education. It is hoped that the school will inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of combining learning with competition, speed up the training and selection of high-skilled talents, and contribute to the high-quality running of higher vocational education.

The cooperation between our school and Covestro for more than 20 years has successfully embarked on a win-win development path of resource sharing, complementary advantages and integration between vocational schools and cooperative enterprises. The "Covestro Cup" Vocational Skills Competition is an important cooperation project between our school and Covestro. The competition consists of eight categories: general, creative design, chemical industry, machining, electrical and electronic, information technology, tourism, finance and trade. In the 13th competition, 1,454 students participated in 32 events, among whom 410 students won prizes. In the 14th competition, 1,282 students participated in 35 events, among whom 369 students won prizes.

In the transformation and development of higher vocational education, we should inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of promoting teaching by competition, promoting learning by competition and combining learning with competition, so as to contribute to the high-quality running of higher vocational education. Over the years, the “Covestro Cup” Vocational Skills Competition has trained many outstanding students who won gold and silver in the Shanghai Starlight Project Competition and even the national skills competition, and a number of high-quality workers and talents with professional skills and craftsman spirit have emerged.
After the award ceremony, both sides held a symposium on specialty co-construction. In-depth discussion was carried out around the personnel training scheme, curriculum and teaching, practice and training, and many consensuses were reached, and the docking work between the two sides was determined, so as to ensure the co-construction between the new higher vocational college and Covestro.
