Grow Beyond Yourself, Empower the Future —— Our students Won the Runner-up in the National Finals of "Grow Beyond Yourself" Evonik's Career Empowerment for Female Students in Vocational Colleges

From August 23rd to 25th, the national finals of Evonik Career Empowerment for Female Students in Vocational Colleges were held as scheduled. Yang Liaoyuan, vice director of the School of Chemical Engineering of Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College, led our team in the finals, which was composed of Zhu Qiran, Gu Yuxi and Lu Yi. The event was attended by teams from seven higher vocational colleges from all over China, which were held in MUSC and Evonik Xinzhuang Site.

On the eve of the finals, the teams visited Evonik MUSC and Evonik Xinzhuang Site to learn about the overall production situation, cosmetics analysis laboratory, chemical analysis laboratory and instrument analysis laboratory of the sites. Through visiting and studying, teachers and students have a deep understanding of Evonik's past, present and future.

During the activity, Ms. Gabrielle Retting, the sponsor of "Grow Beyond Yourself" project, shared the course about growing up. Through the introduction of Ms. Gabrielle Retting, students learned more about German history and cultural differences between China and Germany. During the teaching in English, our students have a positive attitude, listen earnestly, answer quickly, and dare to express their views, which has won unanimous praise from Ms. Gabrielle Retting and other participants.

In the Social Practice Scheme Innovation Challenge, our team of introduced the scheme entitled "New Renewable Energy Factory Construction and Transformation Plan" in detail. Guided by enterprise expert, the scheme includes background introduction, scheme and feasibility, community image and visualization, backup energy and emergency plan. In the questioning session of the judges, the participating team of our school communicated face to face with the judges to find solutions to the problems. During the whole activity, our team helped each other and worked together, which reflected the team cohesion, and finally won the runner-up in this competition with good performance and positive attitude.

"Grow Beyond Yourself" Evonik Career Empowerment for Female Students in Vocational Colleges was launched in April this year. The activities are rich in contents and diverse in forms. The diversified learning and practice opportunities such as German expert lectures, online courses, off-line factory field visits and exchanges, summer training camps, and social practice program innovation challenges bring students a brand-new social experience, enhance their soft skills in the workplace, and help them better understand themselves, improve their problem-solving ability and communication and expression ability.
