On November 18th, the award ceremony of the 2024 World Vocational College Skills Competition and the opening ceremony of the 16th Covestro Vocational Skills Competition were successfully held in the Conference Center of our school. Zheng Ying, Secretary of the Party Committee of Jinshan Education Work and Director of Jinshan Education Bureau, Ji Wenbin, Vice President of Covestro, Deputy General Manager of Covestro Integrated Site Shanghai, Director of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Affairs of Covestro Asia Pacific, Li Songhao, Deputy Director of Jinshan Education Bureau, Gao Ju, Secretary of the Party Committee of the school and Huang Hanjun, Vice President and other leaders attended the meeting, which was presided over by Zhang Haixia, Director of the School Office.
Zheng Ying spoke highly of the achievements made by Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College in this World Vocational College Skills Competition, and said that Jinshan Education Bureau will, as always, support the development of vocational education, promote the deep integration of industry and education, and provide more support for students' employment and career development. Focusing on the training of skilled personnel, Zheng Ying put forward three requirements for the school: First, we should take this competition as an opportunity to further deepen the reform of education and teaching, so as to promote teaching, learning and reform through competition. Second, we should broaden the channels of cooperation with excellent enterprises such as Covestro, and enhance the practical problem-solving ability and employment competitiveness. Third, we should pay attention to the cultivation of comprehensive quality and innovative ability, and cultivate students into compound talents with both professional skills and lofty morality.
Gao Ju delivered a speech. He said that in the competition for the finals of the World Vocational College Skills Competition, the school faced opportunities and challenges of the competition, organized students and participated in such high-end events for the first time. The participating students showed tenacious fighting consciousness and craftsmanship spirit of striving for perfection, and all four teams achieved breakthroughs and gained a lot, handing over a satisfactory answer sheet for the new professional construction of the new higher vocational college. The school will adhere to the talent training concept of knowledge and skills-based, comprehensive quality as the soul, and devote itself to cultivating high-quality technicians and technical talents to provide strong talent guarantee and intellectual support for regional economic development.
During the award ceremony, Huang Hanjun read out the list of winners. The school has achieved excellent results in this competition, especially in chemical production technology, chemical experimental technology, digital transformation of production units and emergency rescue of workplace accidents, and won 1 gold and 3 silvers.
Xiong Yiting, Chen Enqing, Li Dongyang and Sun Yucheng won the gold medal and were awarded the honorary title of "Golden Seagull Craftsman" by the school.
Yan Jun, Huang Yujiang county, Zhang Tingkai and other students who won the silver medals were awarded the honorary title of "Golden Seagull Technical Expert" by the school.
Yin Yue, Peng Junjie, Huang Ying and other students who won prizes in this year's competitions at Shanghai municipal level and above were awarded the honorary title of "Seagull Skill Star" by the school.
After the award ceremony, the instructor and the student representative of the 2024 World Vocational College Skills Competition shared their experiences respectively. The instructor shared his experience in guiding students to participate in the competition and emphasized the importance of teamwork and hard training. The student representative who won the gold medal shared his experiences and feelings, expressed his gratitude to the school and teachers, and their confidence in their future study and work.

Zheng Ying announced the official opening of the 16th Covestro Vocational Skills Competition. There are 20 competitions in 5 categories, covering general skills, chemical technology, finance and trade, mechanical processing and creative design, aiming at comprehensively inspecting and improving students' comprehensive vocational skills and innovation and practical ability.
This award ceremony and opening ceremony is not only a summary of past efforts, but also a bright prospect for future development.
