The 2025 Shanghai Hazardous Chemicals Safety Skills Competition Successfully Held in Our School

On June 25th, under the guidance of Shanghai Emergency Management Bureau, the 2025 Shanghai Hazardous Chemicals Safety Skills Competition, which was jointly sponsored by Shanghai Hazardous Chemicals and Industry and Trade Safety Liability Insurance Organization, Shanghai Chemical Industry Association and Shanghai Emergency Management and Safe Production Association, was successfully held in our school. The theme of this competition is "Everyone knows about safety, everyone knows how to deal with emergencies——find out the hidden dangers around us", and through practical skills competition, the safety literacy of employees of hazardous chemicals in the city is comprehensively tested, which injects strong impetus into the 24th national "Safe Production Month" activity.

As an annual key event in the field of safe production in Shanghai, this competition attracted 25 teams from nine major safety alliances to compete on the same stage, covering the whole industrial chain fields such as petrochemical industry, pharmaceutical chemical industry and fine chemical industry. The competition consists of three practical subjects, simulated high-risk scenes such as fire fighting and emergency rescue, which aims to comprehensively test the emergency response, equipment operation and teamwork ability of the participating teams.

Ma Jianhong, Director of Shanghai Emergency Management Bureau, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He pointed out that holding this competition in the 24th National "Safe Production Month" is an innovative measure for Shanghai to thoroughly implement the spirit of the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping on safe production. At present, the situation of hazardous chemicals production in Shanghai is still a priority, and it is urgent to improve the daily emergency rescue capability. He put forward three requirements for all relevant enterprises: First, enhance security awareness, improve ideological understanding, and fully safeguard social stability; Second, dare to bear main responsibility, and grasp key points of enterprise safety work; Third, deepen prevention in key areas and enhance intrinsic safety of enterprises, and play a leading demonstration role in central enterprises and state-owned enterprises in Shanghai. He expects all parties to go all out to prevent risks, do a good job of implementation, and contribute more to high-level safety and high-quality economic development of hazardous chemicals industries.

Before the competition began, National Petrochemical Rescue Shanghai Petrochemical Team conducted a fire rescue subject performance. The team demonstrated their excellent physical fitness and high morale, highlighting their solid basic skills and strong discipline in emergency rescue. During the human-machine integrated three-dimensional practical combat operation performance, the detection and rescue quadruped robot dog entered first, transmitting real-time images and providing evidence for rescue. Ultimately the fire was successfully dealt with, showcasing Shanghai Petrochemical Team’s professional skills and teamwork, interpreting rescue spirit and earning high praise from the audience on the spot.

Through fierce competition, the participating teams showcased excellent performance with their exquisite skills. In the three-person, three-hose connection operation competition, the contestants demonstrated their well-trained professional qualities, with precise connections and every move being just right, vividly interpreting the emergency response principle of "time is life". In the fire extinguisher fire-extinguishing subject, the cooperation between the two team members was even more in perfect harmony. They were calm and composed, quickly judged the location of the fire source, and effectively controlled the spread of the fire and ensured the efficient completion of the fire-extinguishing task. In the toxic space rescue section, the team members showed great courage and determination, wearing air respirators and crossing the simulated harsh environment at the fastest speed. They not only efficiently completed the transfer of the injured but also quickly carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation to save the lives of the injured.

The award ceremony brought the atmosphere of the venue to a climax. The leaders in attendance successively presented trophies to the winning teams. Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Company Limited Team, Shanghai Chlor-Alkali Chemical Co., Ltd. Team, and BASF Chemical Co., Ltd. Team won the first prize in the three projects respectively, with several teams receiving second and third prizes as well as winning prizes. The winning team members, holding the trophies, said that the competition was not only a platform for skills display but also a test of the results of daily safety training. In the future, they will transform the competition experience into practical work on the job and contribute to the city's safety.

This competition innovated the "competition-driven training" model, through which the operability of emergency plans was tested in a practical way, the unification of industry operating standards was promoted, and technical talents stood out and were reserved, injecting fresh blood into Shanghai's hazardous chemicals safety management team. The school will continue to deepen the integration of industry and education, jointly build a safety skills training base with enterprises, and provide a solid talent guarantee for the creation of "Safe Shanghai".
