Award Ceremony of 2025 Skills and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition & Opening Ceremony of the 17th Covestro Students’ Vocational Skills Competition Held in Our School

In order to promote the spirit of artisans and stimulate students' innovation and creativity, on December 4th, the award ceremony of 2025 Skills and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and the opening ceremony of the 17th Covestro Students’ Vocational Skills Competition were held in our school. Jin Long, Deputy Director of Jinshan Education Bureau, Dr. Ji Wenbin, Vice President of Covestro, Jiang Yuhe, Champion of Chemical Laboratory Technology Project in the 46th World Skills Competition, Gao Ju, Secretary of the Party Committee of our school, and other leaders attended the event, and Vice President Zhang Haixia presided over the ceremony.

Jin Long announced the opening of the 17th Covestro Students' Vocational Skills Competition. He pointed out that Jinshan has always placed vocational education in an important strategic position, closely followed the layout of regional industrial development, vigorously promoted the integration of production and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and the development level of vocational education has been significantly improved. Since the establishment of the new higher vocational college in 2022, Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College has achieved remarkable results in the training of skilled personnel and the collaborative innovation between school and enterprises. It is hoped that the school will continue to give full play to its specialty advantages by taking skills competitions as the starting point, deepen the collaborative education mode between school and enterprises, continuously improve the quality of personnel training, and deliver more excellent skilled personnel for regional economic and social development.

Ji Wenbin congratulated the school on its achievements in training skilled personnel. He emphasized that Covestro is a leading material manufacturer in the world, and always believes that talents are the most valuable wealth of the enterprise. For more than 20 years, Covestro and the school have worked together to explore the road of all-round collaborative education. Covestro Students’ Vocational Skills Competition has become an important link for school-enterprise cooperation, witnessing the growth of outstanding students one after another. Covestro should not only be a leader in material innovation, but also a pioneer in the integration of production and education. In the future, it will continue to deepen cooperation with the school and provide students with a broader practice platform and development opportunities.

Gao Ju said that the school has always insisted on promoting learning, teaching and reform through competition. Teachers and students have won many successes in various competitions, especially in the 2025 World Vocational College Skills Competition. On the basis of 1 gold and 3 silver last year, the school once again achieved good results of 2 silver and 2 bronze. The 17th Covestro Students' Vocational Skills Competition is held as scheduled, which is another practice of deepening the integration of production and education between school and enterprise. He hopes all the participating students will show their professional skills and innovative ability, constantly excel themselves and realize their dreams.

Huang Hanjun, Vice President of our school, read out the winners list of 2025 Skills and Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. Eight students who won the silver prize in the World Skills Competition, such as Wen Hongguang and Lin Jiaxing, were awarded the title of "Golden Seagull Technical Expert". Eight students who won the bronze prize in the World Skills Competition, such as Zhang Tingkai and Huang Xin, were awarded the title of "Golden Seagull Skill Star", and a group of students who had made outstanding achievements in various innovation and skills competitions, such as Yuan Haoran, Liu Jiacong and Li Chenghao, were awarded "Seagull Skill Star".

At the ceremony, Gao Wenjie, one instructor of the 2025 World Vocational College Skills Competition, shared his experience in preparing for the competition. Combining with his own guidance experience, he conducted in-depth exchanges from the aspects of teamwork, preparation for the competition, and growth perception, encouraging students to work hard and show themselves in the skills competition. Sun Jiuhai, student representative, shared the hardships and gains in his preparation for the competition, expressing gratitude to the school and the instructor, and calling on students to pursue their youthful dreams with skills as their support.

Jiang Yuhe gave a special lecture titled "Craftmanship casts dreams and skills empower youth". Based on her own winning experience, she shared her skills learning methods and insights from the aspects of growth stories, experience transmission and achievement transformation, and encouraged students to strengthen their belief in skills and strive to become high-quality technicians and technical talents in the new era.

After the opening ceremony, the leaders and guests visited the student associations such as robot dogs, Beijing opera, filigree art of intangible cultural heritage.

It is reported that the 17th Covestro Students' Vocational Skills Competition focused on the demand of regional industrial skills, with a total of 6 major categories and 20 competitions, which not only builds a skills competition ecology of "Each class boasts participants and everyone values skills" on campus, but also effectively stimulates the enthusiasm of all teachers and students to pursue skills and cultivates more high-quality personnel via promoting teaching and integration through competitions and deepening the integration of production and education and school-enterprise cooperation.
