Our School Wins Silver Medal in the Higher Vocational Group of the Ecological Protection and Environmental Governance Event at the 2026 World Vocational College Skills Competition Finals

On September 28, the competition of the Ecological Protection and Environmental Governance of the 2026 World Vocational College Skills Competition concluded successfully at Jiangxi Environmental Engineering Vocational College. The team from the School of Public Safety and Emergency Management of Shanghai Modern Chemical Industry Vocational College stood out among 113 finalist teams from across the country and won the silver medal with solid professional skills and excellent teamwork.

Four contestants—Wang Jiachuan and Sun Jiuhai, majoring in Fire and Rescue Technology, and Jing Liuyuxuan and Shao Zifan, majoring in Safety Management—competed under the guidance of a coaching team including Bi Kai, Gu Hongxia, Wu Yihong, and others. They focused on the core task of emergency leak sealing for an ammonia leak. In multiple modules, including alarm response and rescue preparation, human-machine collaborative disaster reconnaissance and intelligent assessment, personnel search and rescue and safety isolation, and on-site first aid and leak disposal, they concentrated on key procedures and safety points. Their process was clear and complied with emergency response standards, fully demonstrating solid professional knowledge and proficient practical skills, and fully highlighting the school’s solid foundation and sustained competitiveness in cultivating skilled talents in the field of public safety and emergency rescue.

During the preparation stage, the school attached great importance to the competition and coordinated multiple departments to provide comprehensive support in training venues, equipment, and technical experts. The School of Public Safety and Emergency Management established a coaching team for the event and formulated a systematic intensive training plan in accordance with competition rules and industry emergency response standards and in combination with typical hazardous chemical accident cases. The instructors led the team members to give up their rest time and carry out high-intensity closed-loop training, repeatedly polishing every operational detail and rehearsing emergency response plans for various sudden hazardous situations. They continuously optimized team division of work and response procedures, tempered their psychological resilience through high-intensity training, and refined their operations through repeated simulations.

In recent years, our school has continued to deepen the reform of vocational education and teaching, integrating cutting-edge industry technologies and real workplace projects into daily classroom teaching, and encouraging teachers and students to participate in skills competitions at all levels and of all types, using competitions to drive program upgrading. Next, the school will continue to deepen the integration of posts, courses, competitions, and certificates as well as industry-education integration, use competition experience in the classroom, and cultivate more high-quality technical and skilled talents.
